History

November 2011 was an instrumental year in the development of the new Scouting structure in the state of Michigan.  The Area 2 Project studied the impact on Scouting and presented the Crossroads Recommendation, which proposed that the nine existing Councils in Michigan merge into one large Council.  As a result in 2012 Southern Shores Field Service Council was created from the merging of two Council, the Southwest Michigan Council and Great Sauk Trail Council.
